Organize, neaten, and clean the insides of the cabinets. Store nonessential items elsewhere. Many buyers check inside the cabinets and they are looking for SPACE–so make them spacious.

Remove every single item from counter tops. Everything. After the client makes coffee, they should put the coffee maker away, out of sight, when finished. The same goes for toasters, can openers, etc. Ideally even the microwave will be put away. Put away cookbooks, recipe boxes, decorations, salt and pepper, dish draining rack, toaster oven . . . you want wide open, spacious counter tops.

Clean the counter so it is shiny. After it is spotless you can put out a bowl of fruit, fresh flowers or a large scented candle.
